HOUSTON (KIAH) — Harris County has passed a balanced budget for next year after a contentious debate between commissioners and County Judge Lina Hidalgo.
Commissioners approved a $2.8 billion budget that will increase the pay for the county’s law enforcement officers, which was needed after Houston police officers got an increase in its pay two months ago.
The budget also has funding for flood maintenance and for roads, sidewalks and parks.
“Our Harris County budget is more than a financial document; it reflects our values. During months of deep engagement through numerous town halls, hundreds of survey responses, and frequent communication with constituents, the community told us what mattered most: public safety, public health, infrastructure, and disaster readiness.” Precinct 4 Commi
