LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Across the Capital City, schools are preparing for one of the most spirited weeks of the year.

But behind the scenes, the time and effort behind making the celebration secure is what makes it so special.

“Getting into the midway point of the fall activities and athletics season which means it’s homecoming,” said JJ Toczek, the Athletic Director for Lincoln Public Schools. “A lot of festivities going on, not only football games and athletic events but the pride that just goes on.”

Toczek said they have many staff members and law enforcement on site. That’s on top of the emergency plans and training.

And after multiple incidents across the country and here in Nebraska, he said communication within the community is a priority.
