OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) - With a strong thanks to a grant provided by the Freshwater Collaborative of Wisconsin (FCW), the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh can expand and enhance its research regarding the state's freshwater.

As long as funding is consistently approved by state leaders over the course of the next several years, annual grants could generate as much as $1.44 million total through 2031 to fund the "Comprehensive Freshwater Training, Recruitment and Research Experience Program" at UW-Oshkosh.

The program offers a hands-on experience while still directly assessing Wisconsin's most concerning water challenges. The first UWO award is expected to be $243,000 in the current year.
