DUBLIN, Ga. — While still recovering from Hurricane Helene's impact on their own community, residents of Laurens County have mobilized to help neighbors near and far.
Local churches and businesses have continued to provide aid that extends hundreds of miles into storm-ravaged North Carolina.
Members of Cadwell Church abandoned its usual year-long mission trip planning timeline when they received an urgent call for help in Old Fort, North Carolina, a community devastated by the hurricane.
"We really didn't plan North Carolina. It kind of planned us," said one church member, describing the spontaneous nature of their relief effort.
