VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A co-owner of an early childhood center has been arrested on sexual assault charges.

Michael Pope is facing charges, including rape and forcible sodomy, that date back to August 2024.

A bail determination sheet from the Virginia Beach Circuit Court says Pope learned about the charges while out of state. He was indicted on September 15, and records show he was arrested by Virginia Beach police on September 21.

Court documents also read that Pope “believes these accusations may stem from a one-year-old false accusation that he did not believe was legally proceeding."
