The Chicago White Sox placed outfielder Mike Tauchman on the 10-day injured list due to a meniscus tear in his right knee and rookie right-hander Wikelman Gonzalez on the 15-day IL because of a right elbow impingement, effectively ending their seasons on Wednesday.
The moves, which are retroactive to this past Saturday, come with the White Sox’s campaign ending at the conclusion of the regular season on Sunday.
Chicago also recalled right-hander Jonathan Cannon from Triple-A Charlotte and claimed outfielder Derek Hill off waivers from the Miami Marlins.
Tauchman, 34, last played Saturday in a 7-3 home loss to the San Diego Padres. He batted .263 with nine home runs and 40 RBIs across 93 games in his first season with the White Sox.
He is a career .246 hitter with 41 homers and 195 RBIs
