Those wanting to see Republican political influencer Karl Rove on the Purdue University Fort Wayne campus next month must leave their book bags, backpacks and gym bags elsewhere.

The university announced these security measures Wednesday hours before tickets became available for the Omnibus Speaker Series event.

Rove is the first of four speakers scheduled for the series' 30th season, which will feature events in November, February and March.

A senior adviser to President George W. Bush, Rove is expected to present "America's Challenges Amidst Its Broken Politics" at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 7 – about four weeks after conservative activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated while speaking at Utah Valley University.
