Allen County Public Library officials have to wait two weeks for Fort Wayne City Council's action on their 2026 budget.

Officials this week presented to City Council the budget approved by the library board, which includes details of the facilities master plan for improvements to six branches and the main library downtown. The projected annual raises for employees caught the attention of some council members.

Before the Tuesday discussion, council held a public hearing on the the library's budget proposal. Eight people spoke in support of funding the library for reasons including its educational effect, the genealogical archives and its nationwide recognition.
