ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The push to build more housing continues across the St. Louis metro, with city leaders saying more inventory could help bring down costs. But not everyone is welcoming new subdivisions with open arms.

The latest housing fight is unfolding in Festus, where residents are challenging the city council’s approval of a 129-home subdivision near Buck Creek Road. Some neighbors say the project was pushed through too quickly and even illegally.

Neighbors along Buck Creek Road said they are worried about what more traffic will mean for their community.

“There is gonna be an accident off Buck Creek Road, people are going to get killed,” Edward Readenour said.
