CALHOUN COUNTY, W.Va. –A Calhoun County commissioner, who is accused of sexual abuse, appeared in court Wednesday afternoon.
Jacob Daniel McCumbers, 39, of Arnoldsburg had a preliminary hearing waived to give him time to obtain legal counsel. McCumbers was arrested on September 13 and charged with 50 counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, or custodian.
According to state police, who attended a child forensic interview, the alleged victim told them McCumbers had sexually assaulted him for about eight or nine years. The victim stated that it started when he was under the age of 10.
The alleged victim also said that McCumbers would threaten to harm him if he told anyone.
