President Trump signed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act into law this summer, introducing important implications for older adults enrolled in Medicare and also those who use Medicaid.
Hundreds of thousands of older New Jerseyans use both programs, relying on Medicaid for longterm care and to help with their Medicare costs. This bill makes historic cuts to Medicaid ( NJ Familycare ).
Nationally, there is a projected $1 trillion cut in federal funding over the next 10 years, with millions projected to lose their coverage and hundreds of hospitals at risk of closure.
The bill introduces work requirements in Medicaid for the first time and creates new restrictions on how states can fund their Medicaid program.
How will this bill affect older adults in New Jersey?
