WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - The family of a man who was killed in January’s D.C. midair collision filed the federal lawsuit over the crash on Wednesday.

The lawsuit was filed by Rachel Crafton, who lost her husband Casey in the collision. The suit alleges that American Airlines, its regional partner PSA Airlines and the U.S. government “utterly failed in their responsibilities to the travelling public” when the crash happened.

Other family members of victims killed in the crash came together at the National Press Club in Washington for the lawsuit announcement.

“Today we are taking legal action because the accountability of American Airlines, PSA Airlines and the Army and FAA is the only way to ensure this never happens again. And no other families had to live with the pain we had to endure
