Andre Thomas blew a whistle and then threw a hand signal at his partner, who whipped her tail in the water to splash a dozen people standing nearby.
Thomas laughed as the dolphin demanded a head scratch for a job well done.
“This is my is my vice, this is my getaway,” Thomas said with a smile.
Such is the life of Andre Thomas, SeaWorld San Diego dolphin trainer.
At least once a week, it’s his life.
The rest of the time? He’s Sgt Andre Thomas with the San Diego Police Department.
“These two career paths that I've chosen are not — they don't really coincide with each other on your typical day-to-day basis,” Thomas said while sitting along a wall with dolphins swimming nearby.
The Fresno native said he got the idea to be a dolphin and orca trainer from the two aunts who helped raise hi
