MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Optimum is hosting a statewide toy drive for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

They are only accepting new toys to reduce bacteria due to the children being seriously ill.

The drive is in honor of Maddie, the niece of Optimum Regional Operations Director Casey Tobey. Maddie passed away from cancer last Dec.

“Her journey was filled with challenges, but in the darkest moments, it was little things that helped Maddie get through: a smile, a small gift, a comforting toy that brought light to her days,” Tobey said.

With Christmas approaching, Tobey said a toy can make a big difference.
