Just one week after surviving a violent dog attack, 4-year-old King Perkins is back on his feet, running, smiling, and full of energy.

But for his mother, Asia Perkins, the memory of that day is still fresh.

"I just darted out of the store," she said. "I did not think about clocking out or anything. I was like, I need to get to my child."

King was rushed from Daytona Beach to an Orlando hospital after being attacked by a family dog. The injuries were severe.

"My eyes immediately darted to his face," Perkins said. "And when they pulled the sheet back and I saw his leg, I was like, oh Lord, this is pretty. I was thinking, 'I hope he can walk. I hope he can move and get back to his normal self.'"

Doctors used more than 130 stitches to close King’s wounds.
