LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A new 900-page Arkansas State Police (ASP) report discussed with state lawmakers on Sept. 23 concluded that convicted murderer Grant Hardin's escape from prison in May 2025 was due in part to both his careful planning and multiple failures by prison staff.

Hardin walked out of the North Central Unit near Calico Rock after being let out of a secure gate on May 25. Officials said he was wearing a makeshift law enforcement uniform at the time. He was captured 12 days later, hiding in the woods just a few miles from the prison.
