Optus' Singaporean owner will fly to Australia next week in the wake of the under-fire telco's second major triple-zero outage in two years.
Yesterday, Optus chief executive Stephen Rue admitted the brand had "absolutely" suffered reputational damage after a failure to follow step one of an upgrade process caused a 13-hour technical issue that affected about 631 emergency calls and was linked to three deaths last week.
The team involved that day was comprised of both Optus and third-party Nokia staff in Australia and India, and despite five people calling the customer service line advising that there was an issue affecting triple-zero calls, the matter was never escalated.
Parent company, Singtel Group, will visit Australia next week to discuss the incident with Optus.
