The Boys and Girls Club of Fort Wayne is taking an idea from its athletic director and turning it into something new for the organization.
A league for teenagers from the club to compete against other groups in recreational sports.
The new Building Futures Sports League debuts at 3:30 p.m. Friday with a flag football game at the Boys and Girls Club Park on Fairfield Avenue, with members of the Boys and Girls Club facing a team from the Jennings Center.
Jakil Jelks, the club’s athletic director, who’s been with the organization for just over a year, came up with the idea to grow the organization’s outreach while providing kids a competitive yet relaxed environment to develop.
