Cleveland – It’s starting to feel like Groundhog’s Day.

The Tigers lost their eighth straight game Wednesday night, beaten by the Cleveland Guardians for the fifth straight time, 5-1 at Progressive Field, pushing them a full game behind the Guardians, who also own the tie-breaker, in the Central Division.

Aspects of these losses are starting to feel gloomily familiar.

The Tigers, for the second straight game, broke on top and put early pressure on the Guardians’ starting pitcher – Tanner Bibee this time.

Singles by Dillon Dingler and Trey Sweeney set up a sacrifice fly by Parker Meadows in the third inning.

But they left two runners on in that inning and two more in the fourth, allowing Bibee to settle in. The Tigers didn’t put another runner in scoring position.
