GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — It's been 15 years since Michigan State University's College of Human Medicine opened in Grand Rapids.

Wednesday night, an anniversary celebration was held at the Secchia Center to thank the community.

Michigan State President Kevin Guskiewicz said that he’s amazed by the contributions the Secchia Center has made to the healthcare field in Grand Rapids and the state of Michigan as a whole.

“Michigan State is very proud to have a place and a footprint here so that we can be part of a building community together,” Guskiewicz said.

Medical and city leaders celebrated 15 years of the biomedical research facility, highlighting breakthroughs in several different fields that the center has helped to address.
