IOWA (KCAU) — On Wednesday, a new majority leader was elected in the Iowa State Senate.

State Senator Mike Klimesh will succeed former majority leader Jack Whitver, who retired from the position more than a week ago and is not seeking reelection.

Klimesh serves on multiple boards and commissions in Winneshiek County. He was also the Mayor of Spillville for a total of 62 years.
