From the time of Mendel till today the science of genetics has fascinated the human beings. We have come across the facts of heredity, central dogma, variability (by crossing over), jumping genes and Human Genome Project (HGP) etc. Recently an ambitious new research project called Synthetic Human Genome (SynHG) project has been announced by a strong group of UK universities supported by the Wellcome Trust, which has more than £1 billion in funds. Its objective is to synthesize the human genome, or in other words, to write what is called the code of life.
