Human remains discovered earlier this month in Wasilla have been confirmed as those of 18-year-old Ataja Banks. Banks was first reported missing in Anchorage in November 2023.
While Anchorage Police initially handled the case, it was later transferred to the Alaska State Troopers because Banks was last seen in the Mat-Su Valley.
State troopers found Banks’ remains along Moose Meadow Road earlier this month. Authorities now believe that Banks was murdered, and the Alaska State Medical Examiner has officially confirmed the identity of the remains.
