HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — One North Alabama college student is getting the opportunity of a lifetime, thanks to a prestigious scholarship.

"High-achiever" seems like the perfect way to describe Oakwood University senior Matthew Dormus. In addition to being heavily involved on campus and dedicated to his studies, he can also now add "scholarship recipient" to his resume.

Tuesday, the Obama Foundation announced the 100 recipients of this year's Obama-Chesky Voyager Scholarship. Dormus is one of the lucky 100 students to be selected.

Dormus said when he found out, he said he "fell to the ground."

"I was ecstatic, it was a dream come true," he said.
