An updated masterplan will look to further exploit the potential of Coatham in Redcar .

A report for councillors said “new opportunities to enhance the area as a visitor destination” were being sought. Members of Redcar and Cleveland Council ’s growth scrutiny committee also heard how it was hoped to tap into a £4.6m ‘growth zone’ allocation from the Tees Valley Combined Authority.

However this was subject to a successful business case being agreed with the TVCA. Consultants have been appointed to draw up the revised masterplan with elements set to be put forward for funding including the historic boating lake area, which was recently repaired after leaking water and is set to be subject to further improvements in terms of the potential visitor offer.
