NEW MEXICO (KRQE) — Members of the Courts, Corrections, and Justice Committee held a hearing on Tuesday to examine the legal and financial risks local governments could face by voluntarily cooperating with federal immigration enforcement efforts. “The key aspects to know: there are three risks that arise around cooperation,” said Gabriela Guzmán, a staff attorney with Somos un Pueblo Unido, “The three are liability, fiscal impact, and public safety.”
