Mary Regan: Presidential candidates fail to impress on day of lacklustre campaigning

If previous presidential campaigns have left us on the edge of our seats, with their lively characters and unpredictable twists, it appears that safe and steady will be the hallmark of this race.
There is a long way to go, and anything could happen between now and October 24. But, if the official opening day of this presidential election is anything to go by, it’s time to buckle up for a lacklustre and flat campaign.
