Residents in parts of Armadale and Wungong have been warned of potentially hazardous smoke blowing from a raging warehouse fire involving recycled vehicles.
Firefighters were first called to the blaze on Stone Street in Armadale about 11.30am on Thursday following reports an industrial shed about 200sqm in size had caught alight.
More than seven fire trucks were at the scene just before 12.30pm with the shed — made of brick, tiles and steel — fully involved by fire, blowing potentially hazardous smoke in a south easterly direction towards Eleventh Road and South Western Highway.
A DFES spokeswoman said the fire is believed to also involve “recycled vehicles”.
Firefighters, as a precautionary measure, have urged people in the area to stay inside and to shut their doors and windows.
