A 9-year-old boy riding an electric scooter suffered critical injuries Wednesday after crashing with a car, Portland police said.

Police released few details about the crash at Southeast 122ndAvenue and Lincoln Street but said the driver of the car stayed at the scene and was cooperating with the investigation.

The crash happened around 7:30 p.m., just after sunset.

The boy was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.
