SURF Coast Shire councillor Rebecca Bourke has submitted her immediate resignation and will step away from her position to prioritise her young family’s wellbeing.

Ms Bourke released a statement this afternoon (Thursday, September 25), saying it was with “a heavy heart” that she had come to the decision to resign today.

“It has been a true privilege to represent you,” she said.

“I remain incredibly proud of what we have achieved together during my time on council, and I am committed to supporting our community and families through my personal volunteer work and my mental health practice.”

Surf Coast Shire chief executive officer Robyn Seymour thanked Ms Bourke for her service.
