The Saccomanno Higher Education Foundation awarded a new foundation-record $1,022,750 in college scholarships to students from Mesa County and Utah’s Carbon County for its 2025-2026 scholarship program.

The foundation was launched by Geno and Virginia Saccomanno in 1992 to further their dedication to education in the region. With this year’s scholarships, the foundation has awarded more than $22.18 million in scholarships over the years, surpassing its $20 million corpus.

These days, the foundation is run by Geno and Virginia’s children and grandchildren. One of their grandchildren, Gena Cooper, serves as the foundation’s secretary and treasurer.
