New Delhi, Sept 25: India on Thursday successfully conducted the first-ever test firing of its Agni-Prime missile from a specially designed rail-based mobile launcher, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced.
The next-generation ballistic missile has a strike range of up to 2,000 kilometres and comes with advanced technological features. According to Singh, the rail-based launcher provides cross-country mobility, enabling the missile system to move across the rail network and launch with short reaction time while maintaining reduced visibility.
The milestone test marks a significant advancement in India’s strategic capabilities by enhancing operational flexibility and survivability of its missile arsenal.
