CLEVELAND, Ohio — Ballplayers have to be nimble because they can be in one place today and another tomorrow.

The Guardians, on the verge of the postseason, have lost two players from their 26-man roster to season-ending injuries in the last four days. Outfielder Nolan Jones was lost to a strained right oblique muscle during Saturday’s day-night doubleheader against the Twins, and DH David Fry was hit in the face on Tuesday night in the sixth inning against the Tigers.
