From black flag marches to boycotts of Raj Bhavan and dharna on the streets, Opposition-ruled states have long sparred with governors using one way of protest or another. The Pinarayi Vijayan-led Kerala government has now adopted a textbook method to take on the governor amid its ongoing tussle with Raj Bhavan , be it with the incumbent, Rajendra Arlekar, or his predecessor, Arif Mohammed Khan.

On Wednesday, the Kerala government added a module on the Governor's powers and duties to the Class 10 Social Science textbook, describing the governor as an unelected, "nominal figure", with real power resting in the state's Council of Ministers, led by the Chief Minister, reported the Kozhikode-based Mathrubhumi.
