PISCATAWAY – Rutgers football running back Ja’shon Benjamin might’ve been overlooked at times the last couple seasons.
Kyle Monangai and Antwan Raymond received the bulk of the carries last season, which allowed Benjamin to maintain his redshirt. Benjamin had just 45 carries two years ago as a true freshman.
But the native of Pahokee, Florida has flashed his potential plenty of times – including his 66-yard performance against Minnesota and 33 yards vs. Kansas State in the Rate Bowl last December.
"He's a great teammate, really a good player," coach Greg Schiano said. "He really saved us, both in the bowl game and the Minnesota game. He really came up big for us."
