Marc A. Thiessen’s column, “Yes, the left has a violence problem,” in the Sept. 21 “Extra” section of The Plain Dealer, was predictable but ironic, considering the true picture of violence in America. The events of Jan. 6, 2021 -- instigated and promoted by then-President Donald Trump -- were one of the greatest violent attacks on democracy since the Civil War.

The illustration with Thiessen’s column, showing an American flag of bullets, was prejudicial and inflammatory. Liberals are the ones calling for logical gun safety, not National-Rifle-Association-enriched Republicans.

Supporting Palestinians’ right to exist and calling for the Gaza war to end is not antisemitic. Quoting Charlie Kirk’s racist, homophobic, and misogynistic comments does not translate to pleasure over his death.
