GREENBURGH – Gabe Perreault has two goals in the Rangers’ first two preseason games. It’s a great start for a young player battling to make the opening night roster . But is it enough?
“I think I've been playing really well, but it's not something that's going to be given to me,’’ Perreault said Tuesday night after scoring the second goal for the Rangers in a 5-4 overtime loss to the Bruins at the Garden. “It doesn't mean if you play well in one game, that you're on the team. You’ve got to earn it each and every day. And I think I've had a good start, but I’ve got to keep building from here.’’
Perreault did a lot of things right Tuesday. Besides his goal, he had four shots on net, he forechecked aggressively, and was generally noticeable in a good way for most of the night.
