The way Eddie Markey looks at it, it’s one down and two to go.

Now that U.S Rep. Jake Auchincloss has decided against challenging Markey for reelection to the U.S. Senate, that leaves only U.S. reps Seth Moulton of Salem and Ayanna Pressley of Boston for Markey to worry about.

Auchincloss, 37, of Newton, who holds the House seat previously held by Joe Kennedy III, announced last week that he would not challenge Markey in the 2026 Democratic primary.

Auchincloss won the House seat held by Kennedy after Kennedy gave it up to run against Markey in the 2020 Senate Democrat primary, only to be soundly beaten.
