COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - An alleged associate of notorious convicted lawyer Alex Murdaugh is set to appear in court tomorrow.

Russell Laffitte is set to appear Thursday for a court hearing related to his state charges.

He faces three counts of criminal conspiracies, three computer crimes and 15 breaches of trust at the state level.

Laffitte’s defense attorneys requested a new state trial date for October 2025 at the end of 2024, a month after he was successfully granted the new trial.

Laffitte is also scheduled to appear in court again on Sept. 29 for a hearing related to his federal charges. He pled guilty to six federal fraud charges in April 2025 after the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals overturned his initial 2022 conviction at the end of 2024.
