A woman from Dhorlamunda village in Nuapada district was critically injured after being attacked by a wild bear while grazing goats near the forest area.
The victim, identified as Gharamani Rout (40), had ventured into the forest to graze her livestock when the bear suddenly attacked her, striking her on the head. Locals rushed to her aid and immediately informed the Komna forest range officials.
She was rescued and taken to the local Vela community health center for urgent medical treatment. Forest officials are investigating the incident and have urged villagers to exercise caution while entering forested zones, especially during early morning and evening hours when wildlife movement is high.
