Experts have advised that UK householders facing the rise in the Ofgem price cap should start taking action to reduce the potential change to their bills.

Between October 1 and December 31, 2025, the price cap will be set at £1,755 per year for a typical household that uses electricity and gas and pays by direct debit. This is an increase of 2 per cent compared to the £1,720 cap set between July 1 and September 30.

The price cap affects you if you pay for your electricity and gas by standard credit (payment made when you get your electricity and gas bill), direct debit, prepayment meter, or Economy 7 (E7) meter.
