Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has accused India of straining bilateral relations due to its displeasure over last year’s protests that led to the ousting of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Speaking on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, Yunus alleged that Hasina is currently residing in India, which he claims is exacerbating tensions between the two neighbouring countries.
“We have problems with India right now because they did not like what the students have done,” Yunus said. He added, “India is hosting Hasina, who has created problems... that creates tension between India and Bangladesh.”
