Madison County leaders are committing millions of dollars to public safety, as they just approved their new budget.

More than $50 million is going to public safety in Madison County. It will support the jail, more staff, and equipment. Commission leaders say that's nearly 60% of their general fund budget and that kind of spending is critical. They say county growth is putting more pressure on law enforcement, increasing the need for more deputies and support for the jail.
