WASHINGTON — For the first time, a mainstream poll has pegged New Jersey Republican gubernatorial contender Jack Ciattarelli in a dead heat with Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ) after months of surveys consistently showing the Democrat with a massive lead.

Ciattarelli and Sherrill notched 43% support apiece, with 14% unsure or rooting for someone else, a stunning new Emerson College Polling/PIX11/The Hill survey found.

The shocking poll shows that the race has dramatically tightened as it enters the homestretch.

It comes shortly after Ciattarelli’s campaign unveiled a suite of TV ads, including ones that spotlighted Sherrill struggling with a question about her legislative priorities.
