Police seized 82 motorbikes, 18 auto-rickshaws, and a four-wheel passenger vehicle during a community contact programme held in Keshavapatnam village in Echoda mandal on Thursday.

Facing relentless drizzle, 160 policemen, including 20 women officers led by SP Akhil Mahajan, descended on the remote village known for attacking forest officials.

They were accompanied by a sniffer dog named Roma. They checked all the

houses in the village and seized motorbikes and auto-rickshaws from owners for failing to produce valid documents.

Mahajan said the village had seen 90 cases in the past five years. He advised locals to encourage their children to study.
