A Loganair flight departing from Edinburgh Airport was forced to turn around and land after a "technical issue" onboard.

The incident took place on Thursday, September 25 shortly after departing around 7.30am.

Bound for Stornoway, the aircraft made a loop over the Firth of Forth near Falkirk.

It then flew over Dunfermline and Kirkcalday before making its way back to Edinburgh Airport.

Loganair bosses confirmed the re-route was due to issues on the plane.

Passengers had to switch to a new aircraft while issues were sorted on the original plane.

The nature of the incident is not currently known.
