A Texas family is just days away from the first of several life-changing medical procedures for their baby.
11-month-old Brody Shain was born with a severe bilateral cleft lip and palate, meaning his upper lip and the roof of his mouth did not fully form before birth, leaving a gap down the front of his face and inside his mouth.

He also has an encephalocele, which is a bulge in his mouth where part of his brain is pushing through. It puts him at risk for infection and requires him to eat through a feeding tube.
While his mother, Brandy, said they have adapted to his needs, doctors in Dallas have a plan to make him "whole."
"I can't wait to see what he's going to look like!" said Brandy.
