PEPPER PIKE, Ohio (WOIO) - Thanks to a citizen’s dash camera video, a hit-skip suspect was tracked down by police.

Pepper Pike police said a red car on I-271 northbound near the Cedar/Brainard exit was struck by a black SUV whose driver had quickly changed lanes to avoid a crash.

The red car was then pushed into a gray minivan.

The drivers of the red car and the minivan both stopped after the crash; however, police said the driver of the SUV fled.

The witness, who was driving behind the red car, showed police the dash camera video and officers were able to track down the hit-skip driver and solve the case.

Police are recommending all drivers install a dash camera in their vehicle.
