MOSS POINT, Miss. (WLOX) - Moss Point Police Chief Brandon Ashley is resigning effective October 3.
Ashley informed Mayor Billy Knight about his resignation late Wednesday.
The chief’s departure comes as investigators are working to solve three murders that took place in the river city this week.

In August, Ashely was temporarily suspended for five days. It came after he did not tell the mayor that an officer was under investigation for a domestic violence incident.
Ashley started his law enforcement career with the Moss Point Police Department as a patrolman in early 2001. He was appointed as the city’s police chief in 2018.
