LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) - On this day 24 years ago, Nebraska volleyball was about to start something special.

In 2001, fans started buying tickets for the game that would start a sellout streak that is still going on today.

That first sold-out game took place on September 26, and has almost reached 340 matches.

The 24-year sellout streak has now reached 340 matches, making it the longest in any NCAA Women’s sport. Fun fact: it began before any of the current players were even born.

Volleyball Day, which had more than 92,000 fans pack Memorial Stadium for a Huskers match in 2023, did not count as a sellout. It was played outside of the team’s main home facility.
